In addition to a framework for commonly shared values and competencies, CPSC has designed a rigorous methodology for assessing, and ultimately accrediting, peace professionals based on two distinct stages. The assessment process can be summarized as follows:
| Process Step | Description |
|---|---|
| Stage One: Core Values | |
| 1. Expression of Interest and Resume | Board reviews candidate’s background and experience |
| 2. Core Values Self-Assessment | Candidate conducts in-depth exploration of his/her value set or “worldview” (can take 2 to 8 hours to complete) |
| 3. Core Values Assessment by 3 References | References (2 professional, 1 personal) provide assessment of candidate’s consistency with, or application of, the values |
| 4. Core Values Interview | Board conducts two hour interview with candidate based on findings from resume, self-assessment, and references |
| 5. Board Decision re: Core Values | Board decides whether candidate proceeds to stage two |
| Stage Two: Key Competencies | |
| 1. Key Competencies Self-Assessment | Candidate conducts in-depth exploration of his/her education, training, and experience in each competency |
| 2. Key Competencies Assessment by 3 References | References (2 professional, 1 personal) provide assessment of candidate’s demonstration of each competency |
| 3. Key Competencies Interview | Board conducts two hour interview with candidate based upon findings from resume, self-assessment, and references |
| 4. Board Decision re: Key Competencies | Board assesses Key Competency findings |
| 5. Final Board Assessment and Decision | Board makes final decision whether to grant accreditation based upon a combination of all findings and conclusions |
| Please note that upon acceptance of an application, there is a fee of $300 (+HST) for going through the accreditation process. |
