Yves Morneau
Yves Morneau spent most of his professional life working in Africa on issues related to the African continent. Between 1965 and 1980, he was a teacher and a missionary in Zambia where he was the Director of a Secondary school he helped found. Back in Canada, he obtained an MBA at Ottawa University and joined the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA). As a CIDA Program Manager, he was posted to Tanzania and to Benin. During his 21 years with CIDA, he was responsible for development projects in many African countries. Through his extensive travels across the continent, he was able to witness the negative impact of conflicts on the development of African States and the resilience of the African people. All through these years, conflict resolution for non-violent conflicts was part of his daily preoccupation.
After retiring from CIDA in 2004, he specialized in conflict resolution by obtaining a Master’s in Conflict Studies at Saint-Paul University. With the Canadian Institute for Conflict Resolution (CICR), he completed the 160 hour Third Party Neutral Training program. He developed a personal expertise in Strategic Planning for NGOs and worked closely with various Canadian NGOs in this regard. In November 2010, he was accredited as one of the first two Peace Professionals with the Civilian Peace Service Canada. He recently completed development of the Trainers’ Manuals for CICR.
