- Women Building Peace
- This was the Fourth in a Series of Workshops and Consultations sponsored by Civilian Peace Service Canada (CPSC) over the past six years. Held February 15 to 17, 2009 at Saint Paul’s University, Ottawa, Canada. The conference was organized to answer the following key question: How are women leading and being helped or hindered in their roles as decision makers in peace related endeavours? The conference also:
- Featured expert presenters on the impact of diplomacy and cultural and structural norms on the role of women in conflict
- Explored issues specific to women faced in domestic and international conflict settings
- Examined blocks to women’s increased participation in leadership and decision making
- Identified opportunities and challenges presented by the CPSC initiative to “professionalize” peace work through an accreditation program (currently underway)
